I'm still processing it all...
But I did it!
⬆ 15 ascents up Bald Mountain in Sun Valley, Idaho, equalling 29,029 vertical feet, the equivalent of hiking Mt. Everest. I completed it on Saturday after 34 hours of hiking (w/ ~2 hours of sleep and after pulling a hamstring on ascent 12).
Hardest thing I have ever done in my life. By far. And that was exactly the point.
Lots of lessons from the mountain that I'll be sharing in the days and weeks to come, but since the weekend, I've just needed to soak in it all. And eat pretty much anything in sight.
But something I'm finding words can't express is the level of gratitude I am feeling.
Gratitude that I have a body that allowed me to take on this challenge, train for 6+ months and then actually complete it.
Gratitude for the entire 29029 team (Marc Hodulich Jesse Itzler Colin O'Brady Colleen Rue Brent Pease - you are all amazing! And while I haven't yet committed to whether I will do another mountain, you're one of the main reasons I would...will?)
Gratitude for my wife Laura Winter Spence who believed in me from the start and was at the summit after ascent 6 to make sure I had sustenance to consume while she rode the gondola down w/ me each time.
Gratitude for everyone I met on the mountain, who all had their own stories, setbacks and triumphs. What a community!
Gratitude for everyone who followed my journey and cheered me on at some point or another - you have no idea what that meant to me.
Gratitude for this one life we get - make it extraordinary!
